Hello, I’m Shelly and I live on the outskirts of the Lake District with my partner Jamie and our two cats, Bella and Maisie.

I am an education marketing freelancer with over 15 years’ experience marketing to headteachers, teachers, parents and young people.

I have spent the majority of my career working for the global educational publisher Oxford University Press, and in addition to my freelance and consultancy work, I work part-time for the outdoor education charity The Outward Bound Trust.

Specialising in education marketing is important to me. I believe teachers do one of the most important jobs out there and there are so many fantastic organisations and charities that help them to do an even better job. Effective marketing and communications can help open the door to start the conversation between the two.

With knowledge of the primary, secondary, trade and FE sectors, I can offer organisations my expertise in developing and implementing creative and integrated marketing campaigns that generate results.

As an education marketing freelancer, I have a broad range of marketing skills including copywriting, email, website, social, brand, content, digital, PR and crisis comms. As well as being fully qualified with a Masters in Mass Communications and an IDM Postgraduate Diploma in Digital Marketing, I have in-depth knowledge of the education sector. I regularly keep up to date with what’s going on in the world of education and the latest marketing trends.

On top of the education and publishing industries, I am also passionate about the outdoor sector. I have recently worked on marketing projects to support and promote the UK hill-walking business, Mountain Walks.

When I’m not working or trying to climb all the Wainwrights, I enjoy writing fiction, occasionally go for a run and enjoy a gin and tonic.
